This is heresy but the pig is one of the best Lunars
 

I've got all the Lunars years in both gold and silver. The dragon is the most sought after of the coins followed by the horse and snake in no particular order. I think that the (politically incorrect) pig is among the most appealing of the coins. Below are shots of both in gold and silver.

I wish they would've given the silver pig an eyeball, he kind of looks like an alien pig on the coin.

That saying, I still own the coin and it still is quite a nice one.

I have to agree with you TomD. My top 5 ranking in gold is Dragon, Snake, Pig, Rooster, Horse. In Silver it is Dragon, Rooster, Horse, Tiger, Rabbit.

I have the one and two ounce silver Lunar sets, and was working on a 10 oz set til the Perth Mint decided there wasn't enough demand for the 10 ozer's. I only have a couple of one ounce gold coins, the horse and the snake, and now one two oz gold dragon. I would love to complete a one or two ounce gold set, but seriously doubt if I will ever make it due to the rapidly rising prices and the constraints placed on my budget. I will, however, give it the old college try.

For some reason, the new Lunar II set does not appeal to me yet.

My local coin shop had a 1/10oz gold snake the other day. I was going to snap it up but it had a ridiculous premium. I would love to get the lunar snake (my birth year), but I can't justify the premium.

Wait a minute. Where did that scrollwork around the coin come from? It isn't on the regular tiger. In the past, when the Perth Mint gilded a coin, they gilded an area of the regular coin.

I bid on Ebay for the Dragon wih the yellow diamond eyes.........thought I bid high enough but got sniped for $30..........
